Namita is the Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Chadha & Co. With more than three decades of experience, she is highly skilled in dispute resolution. She has gained recognition both domestically and internationally for the representation of a variety of domestic and foreign clients before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, arbitration tribunals, and quasi-judicial bodies.

She has extensive experience of working in-house as a General Counsel and in the Supreme Court of India, and is renowned for her keen ability to quickly drill down to the core issues, evolve innovative legal strategies, and get the job done.

Her areas of expertise include multijurisdictional litigation and dispute resolution, arbitration, white-collar crime and commercial fraud, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, competition law, labour and employment, compliance, and anti-bribery issues. She advises leading multinationals doing business in India on diverse matters. She brings to the table expertise flowing from a fusion of skill-sets drawn from her prior experience at a leading multinational company as its general counsel, compliance leader and ombudsperson, and the rich experience of the law firm for providing efficient legal solutions to the businesses which her Firm advises.

Namita began her professional career in 1993 in the Supreme Court of India, where she worked on diverse areas of civil, commercial and contractual laws with an emphasis on issues of constitutional and environmental laws and public interest litigation. She served as a counsel to BHP, a leading Australian multinational, where she advised its joint venture company in India on contract negotiations with Paradip Port Trust for an ADB funded project, and other major infrastructure projects.

Thereafter, she worked for a leading corporate and commercial law firm, where she gained extensive experience in advising primarily Japanese and American clients on insurance laws, anti-trust laws, privatization and disinvestment, licensing and franchising, joint ventures and technical collaborations.

Namita has served as the general counsel, compliance officer and ombudsperson of an Indian subsidiary of General Electric. Being a member of the India management team, she worked extensively with the Asia-Pacific and US legal teams. During her stint, she advised on matters involving the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and implemented the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and UN Convention Against Corruption at the company. She also led two major acquisitions. As general counsel, she conducted complex negotiations with labour unions. She has trained board members, senior management and employees on various compliance issues and policies, thus helping the company achieve high performance and integrity. By marshalling the diverse resources of both counsel and managers worldwide, she was able to break down traditional legal boundaries and bring together significant, hands-on experience in the areas of compliance, government investigations and raids, legislative and political relations, and customizing global integrity policies.

Namita has authored several articles, spoken at various fora, and has been featured in several leading publications.
