Managing Partner
Rahul is the Co-Managing Partner of Chadha & Co. He works closely with senior management of leading multinational clients of the firm on strategy formulation, M&A, private equity, government policy, regulatory matters, and management issues that impact their business in India.
Rahul advises on legal strategy, investment structuring, regulatory issues, corporate governance, M&A, private equity and venture capital, and infrastructure matters.
Rahul started his professional career in 1992 with Unilever’s Indian subsidiary. Subsequently, he set up a joint venture company with Singaporean and Ukrainian partners in the field of underground mine construction, after which he co-founded a women-focused ecommerce company, which grew to be India’s largest women’s portal. The company was subsequently acquired by the Times of India group. Thereafter, Rahul managed and grew the Indian operations of one of the first knowledge process outsourcing companies set up in India, along with a team of consultants from McKinsey. The said company was acquired by a subsidiary of ICICI Bank and subsequently by a subsidiary of Standard and Poor’s. In the above assignments, Rahul was responsible for managing regulatory issues; corporate governance; mergers and acquisitions; and raising capital.
Rahul’s responsibilities at Chadha & Co. include managing the firm and key client relationships, and advising clients on their India entry strategy and structuring investments, regulatory issues, tax, corporate governance, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, private equity/ venture capital, technology transfer and licensing, and infrastructure.
Rahul is a member of the board of directors of the Indian subsidiaries of several leading multinational companies. He has served on the board of a leading international association of law firms, accounting firms and tax advisors. Rahul is actively involved in mentoring startups and is a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and co-founder of the joint mentoring program of IIM Bangalore and IIT Delhi. He is a sought-after speaker and has authored several articles and chapters on Indian laws and regulations for domestic and international publications.
In addition to his degree in Law, Rahul holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from University of Delhi and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
